FASHION MAKES SENSE AWARD

Fashion Makes Sense Award in 2018, FASHIONCLASH is very proud to present the 3rd Fashion Makes Sense Award. Sustainability is becoming an even more prominent subject on the global agenda and so FMSA has become an even more important project for FASHIONCLASH, but also for young designers from all over the world. The goal of FMSA is on the one hand talent development and support of young fashion designers and on the other hand to contribute to awareness about sustainable fashion among the general public.
The 10 finalists will present two outfits; one at Cube Design Museum and one during FASHIONCLASH Festival 2019 at the SAM Decorfabriek.

“My vision regarding the future of sustainability and fashion, finds me in the quest to be able to democratize knowledge, generating tools for conscientious consumption. Developing, disseminating and promoting these principles in a practical way. I started teaching methods of reusing textile raw material (up-cycling). I will also generate a biting patterns with zero waste.
I think it is necessary to be able to observe the world in which we live and the amount of discard raw material that exists. Also the speed with which fashion is currently developed and the quantity of products that are generated collection after collection. From personal experience, I like to think of a timeless collection, with reduced stock, made by hand, thinking about the producers and the working time behind each garment.”
